Thiruvananthapuram: The second ship, Zhen Hua 29, arriving at Vizhinjam International Port from China, was not granted permission to berth. As the ship came from China, the immigration process was delayed, which was the reason for not getting permission.
According to the port authorities, the delay in getting the clearance could be due to mistakes in the documents submitted for the ship’s clearance. With more ships expected to arrive, including those carrying cranes, port officials are urging completion of the emigration process to prevent extended stays at sea.
Challenges persist at Vizhinjam International Port, as elements such as the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) remain unavailable due to incomplete construction of the port. In light of these limitations, temporary permissions are being granted to ships arriving here.
Zhen Hua 29, the second ship to dock at Vizhinjam, arrived with Rail-Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes after departing from Shanghai, China, on October 24.
