Kuwait: Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah took oath before the National Assembly on Wednesday to become the 16th Emir of the state of Kuwait.
His appointment as the new leader was declared after the government’s emergency meeting on Tuesday following the news on the death of Emir Sabah IV, Sputnik reported.
According to Kuwait’s legislation, heir to the throne automatically becomes the country’s new ruler after the death of the previous one.
After 14 years of leading his nation through triumphs and regional and global turmoil, the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passed away, leaving an outstanding legacy that will remain in the minds of the people of Kuwait, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the world.
