Riyadh: In order to curb the spread of coronavirus, Saudi Arabia on Monday extended the suspension of prayers in the country’s two holy mosques- the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque- during the month of Ramzan.
President General of the mosques, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais said that Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah and Al Masjid Al-Nabawi will braodcast the call for prayer throughout the month but would remain closed to worshippers, Arab News reported.
Saudi Arabia had barred people from performing prayers inside mosques last month, to prevent the wide spread of coronavirus pandemic.
The Kingdom has recorded over 10,000 cases with 103 deaths due to the pandemic.
