Abu Dhabi: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has launched the groundbreaking initiative “Andalusia: History and Civilization.” Led by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre and the National Library and Archives, this six-month program in partnership with the Kingdom of Spain aims to foster cultural convergence and celebrate the rich heritage of Andalusia.
With a focus on promoting openness, dialogue, and coexistence, the initiative will showcase a diverse range of cultural and artistic activities. Highlights include an exclusive exhibition of Andalusian art at the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, cultural seminars featuring renowned scholars, and the translation of key Andalusian heritage texts into Arabic.
The UAE hopes to expose the significant historical epoch shared by Arabs and Spaniards by inviting local and worldwide communities, scholars, and academics while emphasising the ideals of tolerance and the deep-rooted Arab-Spanish links. This global cultural mission serves to revive the Andalusian legacy, spanning the arts, sciences, and literature, and foster an appreciation for the continuous exchange of ideas throughout history.
Through ‘Andalusia: Journey into History,’ the UAE reinforces its commitment to spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence while strengthening knowledge and understanding of the remarkable Andalusian civilization. This initiative stands as a testament to the shared history between cultures and signifies the UAE’s enduring dedication to promoting cultural harmony and appreciation on a global scale.
