Thiruvananthapuram: The venues for the knockout matches and final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been finalized. The final match of the 17th season of the IPL is scheduled to take place on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The qualifier and elimination matches will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Additionally, Qualifier 2 will also be held in Chennai.
The decision, reported by PTI and confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), aligns with IPL tradition, where the final is played at the same venue where the season’s opening match was played. The governing board of BCCI made the decision.
There is added significance to hosting the knockout matches in Chennai, as it is speculated to be Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement season. The inclusion of Chennai in the knockout stage is expected to elevate the excitement among fans, which is anticipated to fill the stadium and support their beloved team. The full schedule for the second quarter matches will be announced after the ongoing elections.
