Mumbai: The announcement of the Indian cricket team squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup is anticipated to be made by the end of April. According to reports from NDTV, quoting sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), May 1 has been marked as the deadline for the team announcement as per the instructions of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
A 15-member squad list is expected to be released by the end of April, with the provision for changes until May 25. Additionally, details regarding the tournament’s prize money are expected to be disclosed soon.
It has been reported that the BCCI plans to send team members included in the World Cup squad to New York early, particularly those who did not participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. The scheduling of the camp will be designed to accommodate players involved in the IPL knockout stage, allowing them to join the team at a later stage.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 1 in the United States, with Bharat’s first match against Ireland is slated for June 5 in New York. In Group A, Bharat is set to face arch-rival Pakistan on June 9. Bharat’s remaining matches in the group stage include match against the USA on June 12 and Canada on June 15. Rohit Sharma has been named as the captain of the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
