The Indian Men’s Hockey team embarks on the Spain Tour for the 100th anniversary tournament

Bengaluru : The Indian men’s hockey team, comprising 24 talented players, has set off for Spain to participate in the prestigious 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation-International tournament, to be held in Terrasa, Spain, from July 25 to July 30. The four-nation tournament will witness India locking horns with England, the Netherlands, and the hosts, Spain, in what promises to be an enthralling battle on the field.

 

Led by Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Vice-Captain Hardik Singh, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team will kick off their campaign against Spain on July 26th. The team will then take on England on July 28 in their final match of the round-robin stage. The tournament’s grand finale is scheduled for July 30, when the ultimate champion will be crowned.

 

The 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament holds significant importance for the Indian team, serving as a crucial preparatory event ahead of the highly-anticipated Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai. The players will have an ideal opportunity to fine-tune their strategies and sharpen their skills before the prestigious Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.

 

The Indian Men’s Hockey Team boasts a formidable lineup of players, with stalwarts like Sreejesh Parattu Raveendran and Krishan Bahadur Pathak guarding the goalpost. The defense will be held strong by players like Jarmanpreet Singh, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Manpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, and the captain himself, Harmanpreet Singh.

 

In the midfield, the team will be steered by the skilled Hardik Singh, who serves as the vice captain. Accompanying him are Vivek Sagar Prasad, Sumit, Nilakanta Sharma, Shamsher Singh, and Rajkumar Pal, adding depth and agility to the midfield lineup.

 

Up front, the team will rely on the expertise of forwards like Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Mandeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Abhishek, Pawan, Dilpreet Singh, Simranjeet Singh, and Karthi Selvam to outwit the opponents’ defence and score crucial goals.

 

Hockey enthusiasts can witness the thrilling encounters of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team during the tournament, with the broadcast details as follows:

 

On July 25, 2023, India vs. Spain at 23:30 hrs. IST

On July 26, 2023, India vs. Netherlands at 21:30 hrs. IST

On July 28, 2023, India vs. England at 16:30 hrs. IST
