Ahmedabad: With the highly anticipated India-Pakistan cricket clash on the horizon, hotel rates in Ahmedabad are witnessing an unprecedented surge. As the two arch-rivals prepare to face off at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14, accommodation costs have skyrocketed, with some prices increasing by a staggering 15-fold compared to previous months. It was once Rs 4,000 per night but has now escalated to Rs 60,000 with the provision of shared lodging.
Compounding the demand is the shift in the match schedule; originally planned for October 15, it has been moved a day earlier to October 14. This date adjustment has inadvertently fueled a surge in booking rates as eager fans adjust their plans to accommodate the new schedule. A notable trend is the swift booking of all-star hotels, which have been reserved for officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and renowned pollsters.
