Dubai: Kerala Blasters faced a challenging pre-season test as they were handed a resounding 0-6 defeat by Emirati side Al Wasl FC in a friendly match held at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai on Saturday. The encounter served as a valuable opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming football season.
From the opening whistle, Al Wasl FC displayed their dominance on the field, leaving Kerala Blasters struggling to keep up. Nicolas Jimenez and Adama Diallo proved to be the tormentors-in-chief, each scoring a brace during the match.
Al Wasl FC raced to an impressive 4-0 lead by halftime, with Jimenez finding the back of the net in the 16th and 22nd minutes and Diallo adding his name to the scoresheet in the 19th and 38th minutes. The first half saw a relentless display of attacking prowess from the Emirati side.
Despite facing a significant deficit, the Kerala Blasters were determined to make a comeback in the second half. However, their efforts fell short as Al Wasl continued to apply pressure. Siaka Sidibe added to the woes of the Indian team with a goal in the 60th minute, further extending the lead.
