Kochi: As the 10th season of the Indian Super League (ISL) will kick off today at the Kaloor Stadium in Kochi, football enthusiasts in Kerala are buzzing with anticipation for the thrilling match. The Kerala Blasters are determined to avenge their previous season’s loss to Bengaluru FC with a resounding victory. The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to commence at 8 p.m.
However, it is worth noting that the Blasters will be without their head coach, Ivan, for this crucial match. Coach Ivan has been handed a 10-game suspension following a controversial playoff match where he infamously pulled the team off the field. With four more matches to go in his suspension, the team will need to navigate this initial phase without their tactical mastermind.
Adding to the challenges, the Bengaluru will also miss the services of their star player , Sunil Chhetri, who is currently in China representing India at the Asian Games.
Football enthusiasts can catch all the action live on Sports 18, Jio Cinema, and Surya Movies.
The Blasters are entering the ISL’s 10th season with high hopes and a strong roster. The team’s on-field performance is eagerly anticipated, particularly with the promising displays of Japanese winger Daisuke Sakai and Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah during warm-up matches. The addition of experienced defender Prabir Das is expected to bolster the team’s defensive line, alongside stalwarts like Naocha Singh and Pritam Kotal
The arrival of Kwame Peprah is seen as an opportunity for Sahal Abdul Samad to shine in the forward position. The team is banking on the combination of super striker Dimitrios Diamantakos and Kwame Peprah to propel their progress forward. Young talents Nihal Sudheesh and Bidyashagar Singh are also expected to complement the Dimi-Kwame partnership, adding depth to the squad.
Leading the midfield for the Blasters is the talented Luna, often dubbed the “mid-range magician.” With Sahal’s departure to Kolkata, the team will face initial tests in the middle order. Japanese midfielder Deiki Skai’s arrival is expected to provide a significant boost to the midfield, while homegrown talents like Jackson Singh, Vibin Mohan, Danish Farooq and Muhammad Aimen aim to make their mark.
