Hangzhou : India continued its impressive performance at the 2023 Asian Games by securing its third gold medal on Day 3, with the equestrian team reaching the pinnacle of success in the highly skilled sport of dressage.
On Tuesday, the Indian Equestrian team, comprising Anush Agarwalla, Hriday Chheda, Divyakriti Singh, Sudipti Hajela, and their exceptional equine partners, clinched the top spot on the podium with a cumulative score of 209.205. This remarkable achievement marked India’s first gold medal in the discipline in 41 years, with the last medal in dressage being a bronze during the 1986 edition of the Games.
The Indian team’s journey to victory was nothing short of spectacular. Despite initially falling to third place, allowing China and Hong Kong to surge ahead, the Indian riders displayed unwavering determination and skill. Anush and his horse Etro made a significant impact, securing the second position in the individual rankings with a score of 71.088.
The team’s collective efforts were exemplified by Hriday Chheda and his equine partner Emerald (horse ), scoring 69.941, Divyakriti Singh and Adrenalin Firdod (horse ) with a score of 68.176, and Sudipti Hajela and her horse Chinski, securing 66.706 points. These exceptional performances enabled India to clinch the coveted gold medal after a gripping 10-hour competition.
