Ahmedabad: In a crackdown by the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch, four individuals were apprehended for producing and selling fake World Cup tickets for the India-Pakistan match which is scheduled on the 14th. The illicit operation was conducted through social media platforms.
The arrested individuals are identified as Kush Meena (21), Rajvir Thakor (18), Dhrumil Thakor (18), and Jaymin Prajapati (18). The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch team apprehended them in Bodakdev, where they were operating a photostat shop.
During the arrest, authorities recovered 200 fake tickets for the match, along with the machinery used in their production. The Ahmedabad Police, aware of the potential for fake tickets and black market activities, conducts extensive checks to maintain the integrity of fake ticketing systems.
The police said that ,these four people had no prior criminal history. They made and sold fake tickets to have a luxurious life. The police mentioned that they got a real ticket for the India-Pakistan match, reproduced it using colour printing, and shared the fake tickets on social media.
