Mumbai: Recent updates indicate that the talented all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, will only be available for the last two games of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, set to be played against South Africa on November 5 and the Netherlands. Unfortunately, Pandya is unlikely to make an appearance in the game against England in Lucknow.
Pandya has been unable to bowl since sustaining an ankle injury during the India vs. Bangladesh match held in Pune last week. The medical team is closely monitoring his recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and will wait for a few more days before determining his readiness to return. It is expected that he will rejoin the Indian team in either Mumbai or Kolkata.
The Indian cricket team management is taking a cautious approach, prioritising Pandya’s full recovery and fitness for the critical semifinal stage of the World Cup. With the Indian team currently riding a wave of success in the tournament, they are keen on having a fully fit Pandya to bolster their chances in the later stages.
Hardik Pandya, who serves as the vice captain of the Indian team, sustained a left leg ankle injury while fielding during the India vs. Bangladesh clash at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. In an official statement, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced his injury and advised rest, confirming that he would be closely supervised by the BCCI Medical Team.
