Thiruvananthapuram: Keralite cricket player Sanju Samson has addressed the ongoing criticism regarding his consistency in performance. Samson has often faced scrutiny for variations in his form, particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.
In a recent interview with Behindwoods Ice , Samson opened up about the expectations surrounding consistency in T20 cricket. He highlighted the fast-paced nature of the game, where each over contributes five percent to the match.
Samson asserted that playing for consistency might lead to exclusion from the team and emphasised the importance of playing aggressively. He shared his approach as a captain, setting an example for teammates to play fearlessly and take risks.
“If I feel like hitting a six on the very first ball, I will try for it. Even if I am out, I don’t think about what others will say. My goal is to play the way I want to. I don’t need to convince others of anything,” Samson stated.
The cricketer acknowledged playing for himself and shrugged off external opinions. This response comes in the wake of earlier criticism from former Indian player Sreesanth, who had questioned Samson’s receptiveness to advice and stability.
