Mumbai: It has been reported that Hardik Pandya struck a notable deal with the Mumbai Indians management, expressing his desire to return to the team. The condition he reportedly set forth was that he would return to Mumbai only if Rohit Sharma handed over the captaincy to him. According to sources cited by Indian Express, the Mumbai management acceded to this condition.
Following this negotiation, the information was conveyed to Rohit Sharma, who apparently accepted the decision. It was clarified that the team is contemplating a long-term captaincy plan. Despite this change in leadership, Rohit Sharma is said to have agreed to play under Hardik’s captaincy without any objections.
Hardik Pandya moved to Gujarat from Mumbai in 2022. In his first season with Gujarat, he showcased his prowess by clinching the title. Additionally, there are reports in the national media suggesting that the decision to remove Rohit Sharma from the captaincy was communicated during the World Cup itself.
