Johannesburg: In a recent press conference, Bharat’s ODI team captain, KL Rahul, expressed uncertainty regarding the inclusion of Keralite player Sanju Samson in the playing eleven for the upcoming match. Despite the absence of Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma in the team, Rahul remained ambiguous about Samson’s participation.
There are talks suggesting that the team is considering removing a player who usually bats fifth or sixth in the middle order. Rahul hinted at the possibility of Rinku Singh, who has been evolving as a finisher, getting an opportunity in the One Day Internationals (ODIs).
KL Rahul confirmed that he would take on the role of wicketkeeper in the upcoming match. However, he added that there is a plan to utilise Sanju Samson as a keeper in certain matches throughout the series. Rahul emphasised that, Samson needs to deliver a strong performance whenever he gets the opportunity if he aims to secure a spot in upcoming tournaments.
