Burswood: Bharat has claimed the top spot in the points table in the latest update on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025. This development follows Pakistan’s defeat by 360 runs to Australia in the first Test held in Perth.

As a result of this outcome, both Bharat and Pakistan find themselves in the first position in the Points Percentage (PCT) standings with a 66.67% winning score. Pakistan has secured two victories and faced one loss in the World Test Championship, while Bharat boasts one win and a draw.

Before the Test match held in Perth Stadium, Pakistan enjoyed a 100% win percentage. However, following the loss to Australia, their win percentage dropped to 66.67%. Following the recent two-match Test series, New Zealand and Bangladesh hold the third and fourth positions with a win percentage of 50% each, while Australia secures the fifth spot with 41.67%.

In the match against Australia, Pakistan, which set a target of 450 runs in the second inning, fell short as they were all out for 89 runs. Australia’s scores were 487 and 233-5, while Pakistan managed 271 and 89. The top scorer for Pakistan was Saud Shakeel, with 24 runs. Other notable contributions came from Babar Azam (14) and Imam-ul-Haq (10).

Unfortunately, several players, including Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Salman Ali Agha, Faheem Ashraf, Aamer Jamal, and Khurram Shahzad, were dismissed with minimal runs. Shaheen Afridi remained unbeaten with three runs. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood took three wickets each, and Nathan Lyon claimed two wickets for Australia, while Pat Cummins secured one.
