Thiruvananthapuram: Indian badminton sensation PV Sindhu has embarked on a new training journey with Indonesia’s Agus Dwi Santoso, following her decision to part ways with former coach Muhammad Hafiz Hashim.
PV Sindhu said that, “I’d been training with Hafiz, and then I wanted some change – I thought it was not suiting my game—and that’s when I asked Agus.”
Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, initially teamed up with Malaysia’s Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, a champion at the All England and Commonwealth Games, in July. This decision came after her separation from former coach Park Tae-Sang of the Republic of Korea in February 2023.
Speaking about her new coach, Sindhu emphasised the positive impact of Agus Dwi Santoso’s coaching style on her physical strength and mental resilience. She acknowledged the challenging nature of the training, highlighting the coach’s ability to rejuvenate her after intense sessions.
Despite her achievements, including two Olympic medals, she experienced a title drought in 2023, failing to secure a win on the BWF World Tour and making only one final appearance at the Madrid Masters.
