Thiruvananthapuram: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its 2023 ODI squad, with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma named as the captain. The team includes five more Indian players, namely Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammad Shami.

Rohit Sharma’s outstanding performance in 2023 secured him the captaincy, having scored 1255 runs with an impressive average of 52 in ODIs. His notable contribution includes hitting 31 sixes during the World Cup.
Shubman Gill showcased his prowess by amassing 1584 runs, while Virat Kohli contributed 1377 runs in the same period. On the bowling side, Mohammad Siraj claimed 44 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took 49 wickets.
Mohammad Shami’s impactful performances are highlighted by his achievement of taking five wickets in a match four times last year. The collective excellence of these Indian players has earned them well-deserved spots in the ICC’s prestigious 2023 ODI squad.
Joining them in the squad are other talented players, including Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, and Adam Zampa. The diverse skill set of the selected players reflects their exceptional contributions to the world of ODI cricket in 2023.
