Thiruvananthapuram: Ravichandran Ashwin has secured the title of leading wicket-taker for Bharat against England after Bharat’s triumph in the Visakhapatnam Test against England. Ashwin surpasses the previous record held by the former legendary leg-spinner Bhagwath Chandrasekhar. Chandrashekhar, credited with a tally of 96 wickets, acquired 95 wickets from 23 matches, accompanied by eight five-wicket hauls.
Taking Ollie Pope’s wicket during the second Test match propelled Aswin’s count to 96, surpassing Chandrashekhar’s record. Meanwhile, Anil Kumble has also taken over 90 wickets against England.
Furthermore, with just one more wicket, Aswin will join the esteemed ranks as the second Indian player to achieve the remarkable feat of taking 500 wickets in Test cricket. Anil Kumble had previously accomplished this extraordinary milestone.
