Thiruvananthapuram: According to the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), Real Madrid CF (club football) emerged as the highest-earning football club globally for the 2022–23 season. The Spanish club secured a staggering revenue of 831.4 million euros, surpassing other top clubs.
Manchester City, the winners of both the Champions League and the Premier League, secured the second spot with earnings of 825.9 million euros. Paris Saint-Germain followed closely behind City, with earnings 801.8 million euros.
The Premier League earned a total revenue of 6,500 million euros, outperforming Spain’s La Liga, which earned 3,300 million euros, and Germany’s Bundesliga, which garnered 3,200 million euros.
The report highlights that Real Madrid has not spent much money on acquiring players compared to last season. Instead of purchasing seasoned players, the club has focused on recruiting promising young talents such as Eduardo Camavinga while also releasing high-earning veteran players.
Additionally, Real Madrid’s ongoing renovation project at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium aims to generate additional revenue. After the renovation work is completed, the stadium will not only host football matches but also serve as the venue for various events, including an NFL game in 2025 and concerts featuring renowned artists like Taylor Swift in 2024.
