Thiruvananthapuram: Rizwan Javed, a UK-based club cricket player, has been handed a 17. 5 year ban from all forms of cricket due to his involvement in match-fixing attempts during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League. The ban was enforced on September 19, 2023, over allegations of corruption at the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Javed was one of eight individuals initially charged by the ICC in September 2023 concerning allegations of corruption during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League. Among those charged was Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain, who is currently serving a two-year ban.
Javed was found guilty of various violations, including attempts to fix matches and offering rewards to other players for engaging in corrupt conduct.
