PM Modi hails Hima Das on her phenomenal achievement; Das won a historic 5 gold medals in 19 days

New Delhi: Hima Das, the Indian sprinter won 5 gold medals in 19 days in five different competitions in Europe has unstoppable compliments for her excellent achievement starting from India’s President and Prime Minister to Bollywood and sports personalities.

Thanking her fans and well-wishers for their support, she told ANI “These five matches were training games, warm-up matches because big games like World Championship is coming next. So for that, I am preparing. My focus is on these big games. I will try my best to do well there. I need your prayers and blessings.”

“India is very proud of Hima Das’ phenomenal achievements over the last few days. Everyone is absolutely delighted that she has brought home five medals in various tournaments. Congratulations to her and best wishes for her future endeavours,” PM Narendra Modi tweeted on Twitter.

Hima responded in a kind gesture, “Thank you Narendra Modi sir for your kind wishes. I will continue to work hard and bring more medals for our country.”

Hima’s fifth gold of the month came on July 20 in Czech Republic where she clocked a season-best time of 52.09 seconds to win the gold in 400m at the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix.
