Ranchi: Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma underscored the importance of Test cricket while maintaining support for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Speaking at a press conference after the Test victory in Ranchi, Sharma highlighted the challenge of Test cricket.
Sharma asserted that while the IPL is undoubtedly exciting, Test cricket remains the toughest and best format in cricket. He added that achieving success in Test matches requires immense dedication and hard work, emphasising that the recent series victory was no easy feat, with bowlers enduring longer spells and batsmen persevering through challenging conditions.
The skipper reiterated his stance on Test cricket, emphasising that only players passionate about the format should represent the team, and they will be given the primary preference. Sharma emphasised that Test cricket is reserved for those who are willing to put in the hard yards and possess a deep passion for the game.
