Itanagar: Kerala made into knockout in the Santosh Trophy with a commanding 2-0 win against Arunachal Pradesh. The triumph secured Kerala’s spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The winning goals came in quick succession, with Muhammad Ashiq finding the back of the net in the 35th minute off a cross from Mohammad Safneed. At the onset of the second half, Arjun V doubled Kerala’s lead with another well-executed goal.
Meanwhile, in another match, Assam faced a 2-0 defeat against Services. Services currently lead the group with an impressive nine points from four matches. Services now stand on the brink of securing their spot in the quarterfinals.
With seven points, Kerala holds the third position in the group standings. Their upcoming and final match against Services on March 1 will be crucial in determining their final standing in the group stage.
As per tournament regulations, the top four teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, keeping the competition intense as teams vie for a coveted spot in the next stage of the Santosh Trophy.
