New Delhi: Former Indian cricket player Praveen Kumar has criticised Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Kumar openly stated that Pandya is more interested in making money, which is why he is preparing for the IPL without playing for the national and domestic teams. Pandya joined the Mumbai Indians camp recently and returned as the team captain.
Kumar stated that Pandya is practicing in nets for the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite being sidelined from playing for the country or his state team due to injuries. He emphasised the importance of players being prepared to represent their country and state, rather than solely prioritising financial gains.
In response to a question from the anchor, Praveen Kumar stated that getting injured two months before the IPL, not representing the country or playing in domestic cricket for the state, and immediately participating in the IPL is not the appropriate approach. He emphasised that, while earning money is acceptable, players should prioritise playing for their state and country. Kumar remarked that the current trend reflects a shift in importance solely towards the IPL.
Kumar highlighted the return of Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans and his subsequent appointment as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. He noted that Rohit Sharma could have potentially led Mumbai for two more seasons, with the ultimate decision resting with the management.
Well said Praveen Kumar about hardik Pandya #HardikPandya #MI
