Birmingham: Indian badminton player PV Sindhu faces continues setbacks as she lost to South Korean player An Se Young in the women’s singles second round of the All England Championship. The defeat came in straight games, marking the seventh consecutive loss to An Se Young for Indian players.
Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, started the match strongly against the world number one but succumbed to a series of errors later. Despite putting up a valiant effort, Sindhu was unable to clinch victory, ultimately losing in a hard-fought battle lasting 42 minutes with scores of 19-21, 11-21.
An Se Young, who made history as the first South Korean woman to claim a world championship title, has been in formidable form this season, securing victories in the Malaysia Open and the French Open. Meanwhile, Sindhu, who has been recovering from a left knee injury, is striving for a comeback on the badminton circuit.
