Bangladesh: Dhanka witnessed an exciting clash between the Indian and Bangladeshi women’s cricket teams in the third and final Twenty20 International on Thursday. Despite the early breakthroughs by Indian off-spinner Minnu Mani, Bangladesh successfully chased down the target of 103 runs with 10 balls to spare, securing a consolation victory in the three-match series. Opener Shamima Sultana played a crucial role in the chase, anchoring the innings with a well-constructed 42 off 46 balls.
Having won the toss and electing to bat first, India struggled to build momentum and posted a modest total of 102 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the top scorer for India, contributing 40 runs, while Jemimah Rodrigues made a valuable 28. The duo’s partnership of 45 runs for the third wicket provided some stability to the Indian innings. However, a collapse followed, as India lost six wickets for just 12 runs, failing to capitalize on the promising start.
In pursuit of the target, Bangladesh began their innings cautiously. Minnu Mani, who has consistently impressed in her early overs throughout the series, struck once again in her opening over. She dismissed Shathi Rana for 10, giving India an early breakthrough. Mani continued her excellent form by claiming the wicket of Dilara Akter in her second over. Her impressive spell of 2/19 in three overs set the tone for India’s bowling attack. In her debut match, Mani showcased her talent and proved to be a valuable asset for the team.
However, despite Mani’s efforts, Bangladesh displayed determination and resilience, with opener Shamima Sultana leading the charge. Sultana’s composed innings of 42 played a crucial role in guiding Bangladesh to victory. They reached the target in the 18th over, losing six wickets along the way.
With this result, Bangladesh secured a consolation win, finishing the series with a scoreline of 1-2 in favour of India. The match highlighted the competitive spirit and skill of both teams, providing an entertaining contest for cricket enthusiasts.
