Bridgetown: The return of India’s lead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, to the national side is not yet certain, according to India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma. While Bumrah’s recovery progress looks promising, Rohit expressed uncertainty about the fast bowler’s participation in the upcoming white-ball assignments in Ireland. Despite the uncertainty, Rohit emphasised the significance of Bumrah’s experience and expressed hope for his return before the World Cup.
Addressing the media on the eve of the first ODI against the West Indies, Rohit Sharma acknowledged the importance of Jasprit Bumrah’s presence in the team. However, he clarified that Bumrah’s return is not imminent and that there are still factors to consider regarding his recovery and match fitness.
“The amount of experience he (Bumrah) brings is very important. Right now, he’s coming from a serious injury, and I have no idea if he’ll travel to Ireland because the team hasn’t been announced yet,” said Rohit.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s premier fast bowler, has been undergoing rehabilitation after a serious injury, and his comeback to the squad is eagerly awaited by the team and fans alike. While the current situation looks positive, Rohit Sharma expressed caution and highlighted the importance of ensuring Bumrah’s complete recovery before he returns to the field.
“If he gets to play, then it’s good, and we hope he plays before the World Cup. When a player returns from a serious injury, match fitness and match feeling are some key components that are missing,” Rohit stated during the press conference.
Jasprit Bumrah’s absence in the bowling attack has been keenly felt by the Indian team during his injury layoff. The 27-year-old has been a potent force in all formats of the game, known for his lethal pace and deadly yorkers. His presence brings a wealth of experience and skill to the table, making him an invaluable asset in crucial matches.
