Bengaluru: In the final match of the group stage against the Netherlands in ICC World Cup, India has positioned itself strongly by posting a formidable score. Opting to bat after winning the toss, India stands at 359 runs for the loss of three wickets after 47 overs.
The opening duo, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, provided India with a solid start, punishing the Dutch bowlers from the beginning. India reached the three-figure mark on the scoreboard in the 12th over. However, Gill, who contributed with a half-century, fell victim to Paul van Meekeren when the team’s score was 100. Rohit Sharma also reached a half-century before being dismissed by Bas de Leede, scoring 61 runs from 54 balls, including 2 sixes and 8 fours.
India faced another setback with the loss of Virat Kohli, who was building a strong innings alongside Shreyas Iyer. van der Merwe claimed Kohli’s wicket, leaving him with 51 runs from 56 balls. Currently, Iyer and Rahul are holding the crease, showcasing a commendable performance.
