United States: In a recent interview, Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), revealed that the platform has witnessed a significant decline in daily active users since Elon Musk’s takeover. Yaccarino disclosed that there has been an 11.6 percent drop in the daily active user count from 254.5 million to 225 million.

The CEO, who has been in her role for just 12 weeks, highlighted a 3.7 percent decrease compared to Musk’s figures from the previous year, resulting in a loss of nearly 15 million users. Despite the decline, Yaccarino emphasised that X’s goal is to achieve profitability by 2024. She also pointed out that 90 percent of the top 100 advertisers have returned to the platform in the past 12 weeks, indicating positive signs for the company.

Elon Musk, who took over Twitter in the previous year, initially shared a series of tweets stating that the platform had 254.5 million daily active users in the week before his takeover. However, X later adjusted this figure to 245 million. In the recent interview, Yaccarino stated that the current daily active user count stands at 225 million, clarifying that she had mentioned a range of “200 to 250 million” daily active users earlier in the conversation.

Mashable reported that Yaccarino provided statistics indicating a decline in daily active users for X, amounting to millions, or approximately 3.7 percent, since Musk’s acquisition. This drop in daily active user numbers has surpassed the figures disclosed during Musk’s leadership last year. Under Musk’s tenure in mid-November 2022, Twitter reported 259.4 million daily active users. X has experienced a loss of nearly 15 million users, representing a drop of roughly 5.6 percent.

Yaccarino further mentioned that X currently boasts 550 million monthly active users. However, the report notes that it remains uncertain how much monthly active user growth has occurred during Musk’s leadership.
