Thiruvananthapuram: Tech enthusiasts may soon witness Apple’s venture into the realm of foldable smartphones, with recent speculations suggesting a potential launch of foldable iPhone in either 2026 or possibly extending into 2027.
Reports indicate that Apple’s debut foldable iPhone is expected to feature a display size ranging between 7 to 8 inches. This places it in direct competition with the 7.6-inch Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. This indicates that Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone could be a strong competitor in the quickly changing market for foldable smartphones.
Meanwhile, industry experts anticipate a book-style design for Apple’s foldable iPhone, resembling Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series rather than adopting the flip phone design observed in smaller devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
This uncertainty also extends to the choice of display suppliers. The report reveals that both Samsung Display and LG Display have been supplying Apple with 7-inch and 8-inch screen samples since last year.
Samsung Display is anticipated to play a key role as the main supplier, drawing on its experience in producing screens for the popular Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip product lines.
The Elec, a Korean website, raises the possibility that it might serve as a replacement for the iPad mini line. However, Apple is concurrently rumoured to be developing an iPad mini featuring an OLED screen.
