Shimla: Himachal Pradesh experienced a picturesque snowfall in its higher mountains, particularly in areas such as Chamba, Kangra, Kallu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and Shimla districts over the past 24 hours. Tourists and locals alike enjoyed the wintry spectacle, especially in the hill resort of Kufri.
First-time visitors, captivated by the enchanting snowfall, are advising others to enjoy the unique experience and witness the “heavenly” beauty of nature in the Himalayas. Kufri has become a hotspot for tourists seeking the magical allure of freshly fallen snow.
As the state capital, Shimla, has yet to witness snowfall, tourists are flocking to Kufri. People involved in travel and tourism business units are optimistic about increased snowfall, anticipating growth in business.
The fresh snowfall brings delight to farmers and locals, particularly benefiting the apple crop, as the snow is considered “white gold.” However, the snowfall has also led to the closure of 130 roads, including four national highways, according to data from the state Disaster Management Authority.
Over the past 24 hours, various regions have experienced varying temperatures. Notably, Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius, Kalpa in Kinnaur at minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, and Reckong Peo in Kinnaur at 0.17 degrees Celsius. Other regions, including Narkanda, Manali, Kufri, Bhunter, Solan, Dalhousie, Dharamshala, and Shimla, also registered diverse minimum temperatures.
