Thiruvananthapuram: Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology of India, and the NDA candidate for Thiruvananthapuram constituency, said that Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) at Poojapura, Thiruvananthapuram is playing a big role in turning the capital district into an innovation center. He said that the need in the state now is the technology of the next era.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar was talking to the faculties, students and employees of the SCTIMST. He appreciated the latest technology implemented by the institute in the field of health. He added that what are needed now in the field of health are ‘future labs’. He said that SCTIMST has gained unprecedented acceptance in Bharat with its joint culture of medicine and technology.
In the function which was also attended by the Scientists and Engineers of the institute, the NDA candidate assured that if he is elected MP from Thiruvananthapuram, he would make SCTIMST known to the world as one of the best research institutes of Bharat. Prof. VT Rema, State Vice President for Bharatiya Janata Party at Kerala, was also present at the function.
During his welcome speech, SCTIMST Director Prof. Dr. Sanjay Behari talked about the big achievements and major happenings of the institute in the past few years. After Rajeev Chandrasekhar addressed the gathering, Head of Biotechnology Dr. Harikrishna Varma P.R delivered the vote of thanks. Rajeev Chandrasekhar was then presented with a gift by the institute.
