All units under KCYM in Thamarassery diocese to screen the film ‘The Kerala Story’

Wayanad: The Idukki diocese’s decision to screen the film ‘The Kerala Story’ has sparked a wave of support, with other dioceses swiftly following suit. The Thamarassery and Thalassery dioceses have also announced plans to screen the film.

The Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) has lauded these efforts, emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression. They assert that, despite rumors of a ban, the film was never officially prohibited.

This country is afraid of anyone screening the film ‘The Kerala Story’ released in 2023. The fact that the film was not actually banned is being covered up. In a community where even the state’s Chief Minister has acknowledged the presence of organized terrorist recruitment, the KCYM asked who is adamant about restricting freedom of expression, which has led to such organized recruitments without singling out any community or creed.

Last week, the Idukki diocese, affiliated with the prominent Syro Malabar Catholic Church, organized a screening of the movie for students in grades 10, 11, and 12, and encouraged them to write reviews.

The Catholic Church’s Idukki diocese screened ‘The Kerala Story’ during a festival with the aim of instilling in the students the awareness to identify the advocates of such hidden agendas that are spreading silently in the country. “We are congratulating Idukki Diocese for realizing the need of the hour to train the children of the church to be defensive trainers. The film will also be screened in the units of the KCYMs in Thamarassery Diocese,” the statement said.
