New Delhi: After his strong speech in Parliament espousing the cause of Ladakh, BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, has come out heavily against Congress rule for letting Chinese control the Aksai Chin area.

The Ladakh MP said that Congress governments ruined Kashmir by following appeasement politics and it was Ladakh which was affected by it the most.

Namgyal said, “(Former prime minister) Jawaharlal Nehru formulated the ‘forward policy’, which said we should move towards China inch by inch. During its implementation, it became a ‘backward policy’. The (Chinese troops) continued to intrude into our territory and we continued to retreat.”

He blamed the Congress for not giving Ladakh due importance in defence policies. He said this neglect helped the Chinese to completely control the Aksai Chin area.

Namgyal expressed hope that Ladakh will get its due attention in defence planning once the region becomes a Union Territory. He also said that borders will be more secure once city like facilities, including roads, communications, schools and hospitals will be provided in these areas.

The first time MP had on 6 August in a speech in Parliament had lambasted the opposition who were against the abrogation of Article 370.

He said, “A lot of people spoke about Ladakh, Leh, and Kargil. Ladakh has been mistreated and alienated for the last 71 years and was called a place with barren lands. Do people who have such a narrative understand Ladakh? Do they know about its culture, language, food, geographical condition, climatic condition? Ladakh has been fighting for the UT status for the last 71 years. We wish to become an integral and unbreakable part of India.”

Namgyal also told that Article 370 had only benefitted two families referring to Abdullahs and Muftis.
