Jammu and Kashmir: Media reports an encounter is underway in Baramulla area in Kashmir after terrorists opened fire at Indian security forces. This is the first such attack since the government scrapped Article 370.
The encounter is mounted by CRPF, Army, and the Special Operation Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. There are around two to three terrorists engaged with the Indian security forces.
The Kashmir Zone Police tweeted about the encounter and said that the area is cordoned off.
The Kashmir valley has been peaceful since the government took the decision to fully integrate Jammu and Kashmir with India. No mass protests were reported and the instances of violence fell to nil. Terrorists attacks were also not reported.
The encounter that began today evening shows that Pakistan is persistent in inciting violence in the state and to put the security forces on tenterhooks.
