Kozhikode: The shocking incident of love jihad case in Kozhikode will be probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The crime took place in Kozhikode where a 19 year old Christian girl was raped after being drugged and then filmed by the accused. She was later blackmailed to convert to Islam by showing her nude pictures.
According to reports the girl was drugged by her 21 aged classmate named Fazal. She was raped multiple times and photos clicked when she fell unconscious. Fazal then blackmailed her to convert to Islam by showing her private pictures. He threatened to upload it on social media if she does not convert.
The NIA has recorded the girl’s statement.
Reports say that there were 50 cases of love jihad reported from Kozhikode and in other areas of Kerala in the last one month.
The police has registered FIR against Fazal and charged under Sections 376, 384, 506 of the IPC. The case happened in July but the girl was too scared to report it to authorities.
The girl’s father who came to know about his daughter’s plight has filed a complaint at the Medical College police station on 8 August.
The family of the victim alleges that the police is not taking the investigation seriously and is going slow. The case was filed only after the Church began to exert pressure against the police to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, investigators got a CCTV footage which shows the girl being attacked by Fazal and his friends near her hostel after blocking her car.
Tragic cases of love jihad has been reported from many parts of Kerala but the government and the love enforcement agencies do not take a serious effort to investigate or bring those behind this crime to justice.
Recently, a girl committed suicide after she fell victim to love jihad in Kollam district. She was converted by her lover and was also forced to sell drugs to others. The girl hails from a poor family who are incapable of taking up the case on behalf of their daughter.
Many in Kerala hope that the NIA probe could finally bring justice to the victims of love jihad and bring to light the network and money behind this heinous crime.
