New Delhi: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India to a rousing welcome with thousands gathered to receive the leader at the airport. Modi returned after his historic visit to US where he spoke at ‘Howdy Modi’, attended the UN General Assembly and also held bilateral meetings with world leaders.

After alighting at the airport he spoke to his supporters and said that respect for India has grown in the last five years.

Narendra Modi said, “After assuming office in 2014, I went to the UN. I went to the UN even now. In these five years, I have seen a big change. The respect for India, the enthusiasm towards India has increased significantly. This is due to the 130 crore Indians who re-elected our government.”

The Prime Minister also thanked the hundreds of people who gathered in front of the Palam Technical Airport in New Delhi to welcome him.

He said, “I want to thank you all for coming in large numbers. This has been a memorable welcome back home. On this occasion, I bow to each and every Indian.”

His admirers raised slogans “Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi” and danced to the beat of drums at the cultural program organized by BJP Delhi unit.

Many held flags of India and the BJP and chanted “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. The program was under tight security cover and nine companies of para-military forces are employed in the capital.

The Prime Minister was welcomed by BJP Working President J. P. Nadda at the airport along with BJP Delhi Unit President Manoj Tiwari.

During his seven days visit to the United States, Narendra Modi attended a plethora of meetings and addressed the 50,000 strong welcome event ‘Howdy Modi’ in Houston.

‘Howdy Modi’ was the biggest event in US history accorded to welcome a foreign leader on US soil. The program was attended by the US President Donald Trump and by more than 60 lawmakers and Governors.

Modi also received the ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’ by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for his drive in implementing Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan.

Narendra Modi also addressed the United Nations General Assembly where he reiterated his commitment in fighting climate change and the contributions of his government. His message of peace and global unity was welcomed and appreciated by the UNGA.

His speech contrasted from the ranting of Pakistani Prime Minister’s address which was full hatred and divisions.

Modi also held meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of UNGA and also met with leaders of US including the Hindu leader Tulsi Gabbard who could not attend the ‘Howdy Modi’ meeting.
