Islamabad: As Nawaz Sharif’s health is deteriorating and is supervised by a team of doctors around the clock, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Altaf Hussain said that Nawaz Sharif might be poisoned with Polonium just like how Yasser Arafat, the leader of Palestine, was killed in 2004.

Altaf Hussain tweeted on 2 November, “Lower platelets count in Nawaz Sharif’s body! A known fact is that ‘Polonium’ (radioactive element) is used to eliminate enemies. It acts as a slow poison and destroys platelets. Only specialised radioactive laboratory can verify it. International laboratory must examine it.”

The Pakistani leader later posted a research article ‘Polonium – A Perfect Poison’, which he claims is his research on the subject, on his twitter handle to answer the many questions he received.

In the article he claims that the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, was killed with Polonium. He also cites the death of daughter of Marie Curie, Irene Joliot Curie, and also the death of former spy Alexander Litvinenko as clear cases of Polonium poisoning.

Polonium radiation destroys DNA and will result in cell death and cancer and is a known carcinogen. It is also one of the deadliest poison and is known to have been used in assassinations by government secret service agencies across the world.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif has been shifted to his residence from an hospital in Lahore. He was undergoing a prison sentence in Lahore and was remanded to the National Accountability Bureau custody for a financial crime. He fell ill on 22 October and was in hospital since then. His blood platelet count went critically low.

A special medical unit is set up at his residence and is currently supervising Sharif’s health around the clock. The High Court of Islamabad had granted him bail on account of his poor health.
