Islamabad: Pakistan’s undying Islamic fundamentalism has blocked the country from making any progress and perpetuates a never ending hatred for India and its ethos. Now one of the Islamic country’s cleric has lashed out at the Kartarpur corridor and demanded that the Sikhs must not visit the holy site in Pakistan.
Islamist scholar Khadim Hussain Rizvi said, “Pakistan is formed from the word ‘Pak’ or pious in Islam. The dirty habits of Sikhs will not be allowed here.”
He also criticized the facilities provided to the Sikh pilgrims visiting Karatarpur Gurdwara. He said that Pakistan was formed so that no Sikh would enter that country.
Khadim Hussain Rizvi is the founder of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, which is an ultra Muslim orthodox organization fighting against changing the country’s repressive blasphemy law.
The 4.7 km passage was opened on 9 November and connects Dera Baba Nanak Sahib in India’s Gurdaspur and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib located at Kartarpur in Pakistan. The opening was considered as a goodwill gesture between the two nations, whose relations deteriorated after India annulled Article 370 in Kashmir.
