New Delhi: Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, today, lashed out against Rahul Gandhi for his statement that India is the rape capital of the world. She said that crimes against women should not be politicized. She also demanded his apology for his statement.

Smriti Irani said, “We have said this before that crimes against women should not be politicised. Rahul Gandhi dared to make rapes a political tool. We have requested Election Commission to take action.”

The Parliament witnessed uproar over Rahul Gandhi’s statement in which he disgraced India by saying the country is the rape capital of the world.

Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, had said in Lok Sabha that Gandhi had no moral right to be an MP and also demanded his apology.

Rajnath Singh said,  “Our country has been hurt. We had brought our colleagues here in this House to express regret over their statements made outside. He (Rahul Gandhi) should also come to this House and render his apology. He does not have a moral right to be an MP.”

However, Rahul Gandhi made it clear that he would not apologize for the statement that insulted the country.
