New Delhi: Indian Railways has incurred a loss of Rs 88 crore due to the damage caused by the protest against Citizenship Act.
According to reports, property worth Rs 72 crore damaged in Eastern Railway Zone, Rs 13 crore in South Eastern Railway Zone and Rs 3 crore loss in North East Frontier Zone. The agitated mob vandalised trains and railway stations in the region post the passage of the Act.
“There are people who have been identified though the videos of the violence and we have registered FIRs against them. Around a dozen railway employees have been injured,” said Arun Kumar, the director general of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
