Washington DC: The United States President, Donald Trump, has officially funded a new military service, the Space Force, for warfare in space. This is the newest military force in the US military in more than 70 years. Space Force is the sixth branch of the armed forces of that country.
The President while speaking at the occasion said that space is the world’s newest war-fighting domain.
Donald Trump added, “Amid grave threats to our national security, American superiority in space is absolutely vital.”
“We’re leading, but we’re not leading by enough, but very shortly we’ll be leading by a lot. The Space Force will help us deter aggression and control the ultimate high ground.”
The initial funding for the Space Force is $ 40 million and comes under the US Air Force. The main objective of the Space Force is to protect US assets in space such as hundreds of satellites used for communication and surveillance.
The Space Force will have 16,000 Air Force and civilian personnel and will be led by Air Force General, Jay Raymond.
