Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of State for External and Parliamentary Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, lashed out against the government for passing a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the Kerala Assembly. He said that the resolution do not have the value even of the paper it is printed upon.

V. Muraleedharan added that he would not take part in the programs of Kerala government, which took the lead in passing a resolution against a law that was passed by the Indian Parliament and signed by the President of India.

The Minister said that even though the government knew that the resolution had no validity it summoned all the MLAs at the Assembly to pass the resolution. It was a special meeting of the Assembly and the government exchequer had to spend a huge sum to convene it. This was done during a time when the Kerala government itself is speaking about financial strains and austerity.

He also criticized the Loka Kerala Sabha being held from 1-3 January in Thiruvananthapuram as another example of the government wasting tax-payers money. He said it is a ploy to collect money for the party. Besides the CPI(M) is calling the party activists residing in different parts of the world to Kerala with government money. In short the program has degenerated into a party program.
