New Delhi: As ABVP and SFI blame each other for the violence that erupted today evening when masked assailants attacked teachers and students, the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has spoken with Delhi Police Commissioner to take stock of the situation.

A Joint CP rank official will investigate the incident and submit a report. Meanwhile, the police has entered the JNU campus and the situation is now under control.

Extensive flag marches were conducted in the campus and all hostels have been secured. Police deployment is done at strategic points.

The JNU administration called in the police after masked men carrying sticks entered the campus and broke property and beat up students. The JNU Registrar, Pramod Kumar, issued a statement, “This is an urgent message for the entire JNU community that there is a law and order situation on the campus. Masked miscreants armed with sticks are roaming around, damaging property and attacking people. The JNU Administration has called the police to maintain order.”

The ABVP has alleged that leftist activists has attacked their members and many ABVP activists are injured. Earlier in the day 25 ABVP members were injured in an attack by SFI, AISA, and DSF.

The RSS affiliated student organization said, “Around 25 students have been seriously injured in the attack and there is no information about whereabouts of 11 students. Many ABVP members are being attacked in hostels and the hostels are being vandalised by the Leftist goons.”
