Sangli: Even after Shiv Sena joined hands with NCP-Congress and formed Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, BJP maintained its victory in the Zilla Parishad polls of Sangli district.
Three members of the Sena voted for BJP against the Congress and the NCP.
The Zilla Parishad polls in Sangli was held on January 2 and the BJP claimed victory over 35 votes whereas the Cong-NCP alliance won 22.
Sources informed that Sena MLA Anil Babar said, “BJP was an ally. We fought the assembly election together. We have not done anything without intimation to the party leadership. We have always fought elections against Congress-NCP, how can we vote for them now.”
