Chhattisgarh: Sunaina Patel is a commando serving with the elite police force on the look out for Naxals, that might wreak havoc against India. She is trained, armed, focused and now eight months pregnant. She was on duty in her unit, patrolling the jungles, till she was six months into her pregnancy.
Sunaina Patel continued patrolling the jungles with her unit carrying her AK-47, 8-10 kg backpack and other weapons till she was asked by her seniors to take rest and look after her health.
She is serving as one of the elite District Reserve Guard (DRG) Danteshwari Fighters and was working in the most dangerous Maoist infected regions of Chhattisgarh.
Sunaina Patel told a news agency, “I was 2 months pregnant when i joined the unit. I performed all my duties with sincerity. But now have been asked by my seniors to take proper rest.”
The woman commando added that she will do her duty even today if asked to.
Patel is now eight months pregnant and working in a relaxed atmosphere. The officials stopped her from going for patrolling only after they knew that she was six months pregnant.
The SP of her unit said, “She has motivated many women to join the anti-Naxal force since she has become a commando.”
A team of women DRG was constituted last year and Sunaina was inducted into it. The team of women DRG regularly patrols the jungle of Dantewada looking for Naxals and protecting villagers from the threat of communist terrorist.
This Women’s Day, the life of Sunaina Patel is truly inspiring for the millions of women across the country.
