Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP today held a sit-in protest against the Kerala government for taking over the Theerthapada Mandapam and the 65 cents belonging to the Vidhyadhiraja Trust. The sit-in protest took place in front of the Mandapam. The party demanded that the land be handed back to the Trust.
Sri Vidhyadhiraja Trust was planning a memorial to Saint Chattambi Swami, who is revered as a great spiritual guru and reformer along with Sri Narayana Guru in Kerala.
The lone BJP MLA, O. Rajagopal, said that the Kerala government handed over the land for the construction of a memorial but the Revenue Department annulled the decision by an unusual order.
He added that this is a gross injustice and said that the party will carry out a campaign to build a memorial for the saint.
