New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid rich tributes to those who laid down their precious lives in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
He said that their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Taking to Twitter, he said, “I bow to those martyrs who were killed mercilessly in Jallianwala Bagh on this day. We will never forget their courage and sacrifice. Their valour will inspire Indians for the years to come.”
PM Modi also shared an old picture of him bowing down at the Jallianwala Bagh memorial.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919, when Acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered troops of the British Indian Army to fire their rifles into a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab, killing at least 400 people including men and women. Over 1,000 people were injured.
The crowd had assembled to peacefully protest against the arrest of two national leaders- Satya Pal and Saifuddin Kitchlew- when they were fired heinously and indiscriminately by General Dyer and his men.
